Wishing You An Awesome Season’s Greetings

As you navigate the Season’s challenges, incidents of loneliness occur. Lonesomeness can escalate to harmful levels (Australian Broadcasting Corporation News, 2022). Moreover, according to a report from Harvard University (2024), the prevalence of loneliness has reached concerning heights. There is a call for mediation, counselling, arts, and supports to move from loneliness to self and personal efficacy.

May peace and joy be with you this season and in the years ahead. This image features the colder winter months in Canmore.
Kindly be informed that we aim to be accessible every day of the week, including evenings and weekends in Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba. This includes this Season and beyond.

An Awesome Season. Embracing Exploration and Creativity

This Season open up virtual and physical travel possibilities. These elements could be conducive to a creative atmosphere. Furthermore, the Holidays can provide opportunities to explore “…new concepts, fresh expressions, and unconventional lifestyles were constantly rubbing shoulders and prompting even more originality” (Csikszentmihalyi, 1997, p. 129). Mediation, counselling, the arts, and supports are a tool to learn about new or emergent ideas.

An Awesome Season, Life and Hope

Over the years, the numbers of your contacts may have waxed and waned. Your family and friends could be in steady decline due to the sad reality of aging and mortality. However, in the absence of any meaningful activity, perhaps the most important thing to report is that we are still here; helping to make this an awesome season! Moreover, while there is life there is hope that meaningful and sustained change will gather momentum. Sometimes you can benefit from family and friends. Also, we offer mediation, counselling, the arts, and supports.

An Awesome Season. Combining Optimism and Reality

Make room for a profound and yet reality-based optimism, even in the face of adversity. For example, as long as we are alive and actively engaged with the world, there remains the potential for positive transformation. Furthermore, the world is both extraordinary and troubled. This calls for tenacity and faith in people and the planet, and recognition that they should be respected and valued. If you do not currently have hope services like mediation, counselling, the arts, and supports can be an entry point to understand why this is important.

Change does not always come quickly or easily, and it is possible when it is nurtured with care, effort, and a commitment to make a difference. What do you think are some of the key elements required to drive such change forward in today’s world?

This burial site in Europe serves as a testament to human resilience and sacrifice in the face of political extremisms on the global stage.
The pinnacle of nobility lies in the willingness to sacrifice one’s own life for the sake of others. May this universal truth endure through the ages. This Season is an opportunity to work towards planetary peace and security.

An Awesome Season. Navigating Geopolitical Extremisms.

This Season offers opportunities for personal and social relaxation, allowing us to unwind while reflecting on the vital role of human rights and freedoms in fostering peace and joy across the world. It is a moment to appreciate both personal well-being and social harmony, understanding how these principles can pave the way for a more peaceful and fulfilling future. Occasionally, you may participate in virtual (online) and in-person mediation, counselling, the arts and supports as a step towards learning about relaxation.

Media and Special Interest Groups

These outlets are increasingly vulnerable to the geopolitical risks linked with armed conflict, clashing ideologies, and shifting international dynamics. As the world becomes more interlinked, these risks are likely to escalate over the next few decades (De Villa, 2023). Notably,  this can affect the operations, reach, and financial stability of multinational companies, media outlets, and special interest groups alike.

The Case of Google

This multimedia company is facing extraordinary sanctions from Russia. It is essential for companies to be held responsible for upholding human rights, including the right to be forgotten. Additionally, they have the opportunity to advocate for human rights issues, such as security.

The Case of Google and Geopolitical Claims

Sanctions, and risks may manifest in tangible ways. A $20 Decillion fine (a number far beyond the global GDP) underscores the potential for extreme punitive measures that could be imposed by states against foreign companies that are perceived as interfering with national narratives or geopolitical agendas (Roush, 2024). This extreme scenario shows not only how businesses could be financially crippled by fines and sanctions, but also how these measures could reflect broader geopolitical tensions and ideological clashes when human rights weigh in the balance.  Tensions and realities with mediation can be transformed to isolate issues or to bring a win/win outcome for all.

The Case of Google. A Multinationals’ Situation

The Russian government’s actions against Google, are related to this multinationals’ decisions to block or restrict access to state-run media outlets. This is a clear example of how media platforms—especially those with global reach like Google—are not immune from national and international conflicts, with countries asserting control over digital information flows. Companies in this position are forced to navigate the tension between adherence to domestic laws and the broader global expectation for privacy, free speech or neutrality in geopolitical disputes. The media finds itself in a precarious situation, facing potential sanctions regardless of whether it takes action or refrains from this step. Such tensions have existed before in human history and yet there are changes brought about by media and Artificial Intelligence. Mediation incorporates technology to manage conflict.

Regrettably, borders necessitate defences to protect people as a final measure. This commemorative plaque serves as a reminder of the difficulties faced in the American Colony of 1775.
Geopolitical conflicts were experienced with the American Revolution in 1775. Notably, during this time, tensions between the American colonies and Great Britain escalated, and one aspect of this conflict involved the British government’s imposition of various laws and regulations that were unpopular in the colonies (National Park Service, 2021).

The Case of Google. Transforming Geopolitical and Ideological Confrontations

As we look ahead to the next 20 years, it seems likely that these types of geopolitical and ideological confrontations may increase in frequency and complexity. As countries seek to assert control over their information landscapes, digital sovereignty laws (such as the Russian government sanctions) could increase. These laws may force international companies to choose between adhering to domestic government demands or risking severe sanctions. Mediation can assist companies to navigate between these extremes.

In summary, an entry point to working through conflict is a framework that is enlightened by human rights and fundamental freedoms. For example, considerations such as human dignity, freedom of thought, equality, security, fair compensation in the workplace, legal rights, and the right to equitable hearings are essential (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948). An enhanced understanding of geopolitical tensions can serve as a valuable approach to effectively manage challenges and disputes. Mediation has a clear role to create a subset between ideas, interests, and needs.

Geopolitical tensions create biological, financial, legal, psychological distress. When life seems uncertain and the lessening of human rights protections appears imminent it can be restorative to visit beautiful and memorable world locations. The Rockies are one of these places. You could find that such outstanding places can energise you before, between, and after mediation, counselling, and supports sessions.

This Awesome Season. Think About  Journeying Through the Rockies

Walk in the Rockies, with ancestral spirits and witness towering peaks, cascading waterfalls, and serene forests unfold like scenes from nature’s own storybook. Standing amidst this grandeur, we experience a profound connection to the world around us. Each element of the Rockies symbolises resilience, beauty, and the continuity of life—a fitting backdrop for reflections on the past and hopes for the future; especially during this Season. The wildlife’s graceful motion, the forests’ timeless stretch, and the mountain’s silent endurance each echo qualities that we often seek in our own lives.

This image highlights the scenic beauty of Lake Louise, situated in the Rockies.
In Canada,  the United States, and elsewhere the climate can become bitingly cold and conditions quickly change. Be alert to changes around you like thin ice.

The Rockies provide a unique sense of communion with nature, where time seems to pause, allowing us to simply exist in the moment. This adventure brings a thrill, particularly in autumn, as the world begins its quiet transition into winter. The year ahead, with its promises of renewal, feels like an invitation to remain mindful of these fleeting yet profound experiences.

Yet, the Rockies remind us to respect their rugged landscape. In such wild beauty, preparedness is essential; the weather shifts unpredictably, and the terrain can be unforgiving. Staying warm, secure, and well-equipped is part of the reward, allowing us to fully appreciate the stunning landscapes and transformative stillness that the mountains offer. Next, you could be prepared to embrace change through mediation, counselling, and support sessions.

Solution-focused approaches could help you to begin to manage personal to world problems. Moreover, this approach fosters at the very minimum moments of harmony and understanding. Ultimately this along with mediation can facilitate long-term cooperation, stability, and more vibrant ecosystems.

The Passing of Awesome Seasons

Notably, you are not alone and can reach out to family, friends, and us for mediation, counselling, and support sessions.. How can you relive or recall times spent with kith and kin? Reliving or recalling moments spent with family and friends can be a deeply meaningful experience, and there are several ways you can rekindle memories, even if the photos or physical mementos aren’t immediately available. Here are some ideas:

Awesome Seasons, Photographs, and Mementos

If you have photos, souvenirs, or keepsakes from trips or experiences shared with family and friends, these can be powerful ways to evoke memories. For example, a collection of photos in albums or digital formats can help you visually revisit special moments. Sometimes a sole object—a ticket stub from a movie, a trinket from a vacation, or a handwritten note—can transport you back to a particular time and place. Next, you might work through your recollections in counselling sessions.

Awesome Seasons, Stories, and Conversations

Sometimes, talking with family members about shared memories can bring the past to life in ways that photos alone may not. Moreover, you could even record these stories—whether in writing, through audio recordings, or on video—to preserve the feelings and experiences for future generations.

Awesome Seasons and Music

Certain songs or types of music are closely associated with specific memories or times in your life. Whether it is a song that played at a family gathering or a tune that reminds you of a particular vacation or holiday, music has a distinctive way of unlocking memories. The benefits of music to facilitate healing should not be overlooked.

Washington State presents a stunning array of landscapes, featuring notable structures such as this lighthouse, alongside breathtaking waterfalls and lush forests.
This lighthouse, with its light cut through the darkness, helping the lost and the weary at sea. Today, it symbolises guidance, safety, and resilience. It’s not just a physical structure, but a metaphor for hope in moments of uncertainty and seeming chaos.
Awesome Seasons and Places Visited

If you are able, revisiting the places where you spent time with your loved ones—whether at the family home, a favourite holiday location, or a park on the coast or in the mountains —can be an incredibly emotional and grounding experience. Furthermore, even walking by familiar landmarks or sitting in a place where you shared significant moments can bring the memories flooding back. Now and then, counselling can assist you in sifting through your recollections; bringing about perspective transformation.

Awesome Seasons, Journals or Letters

Personal journals, letters, or even past emails can provide insight into how you and your loved ones were feeling during particular times. Notably, reading these materials may reveal aspects of life and relationships that you could have forgotten, but still hold to be meaningful. Counselling can be a means of working through essential content.

Season recipes, such as candy cane slices, evoke a sense of warmth and joy.
Cheers to a wonderful Season ahead!
Awesome Seasons and Sensory Triggers

Smells, tastes, and textures can also trigger vivid memories. Also, a certain dish you used to cook together, a favourite family recipe, or the scent of a particular flower or tree can bring back a flood of feelings. Furthermore, even the act of cooking together or using a cherished family recipe can recreate a sense of connection. These interpersonal links may be consolidated through mediation, counselling, and supports.

Sensory experiences such as aromas, flavors, and tactile sensations have the capacity to evoke vivid recollections. This image shows a mosaic of colour and Mount Hood stands regally in the background.
This abundant array of flowers in the Mount Hood area can evoke fragrant aromas and tactile sensations reminiscent of summers long past.
Awesome Seasons and Digital Memory Boxes

If you do not have physical mementos, digital tools like online photo albums, and cloud storage,  can serve as memory banks. Chiefly, there are also websites and apps that are a means to create virtual scrapbooks, combining photos, videos, text, and even music, to capture the essence of experiences you have shared.

Awesome Seasons, Shared Rituals, or Traditions

Sometimes, the act of recreating a family tradition—whether it is cooking a particular meal, celebrating a holiday, or gathering at a specific spot—can bring back memories and create new ones, strengthening the bond with your loved ones. Mediation, counselling, the arts, and supports are a means to build interpersonal connections.

Awesome Seasons and Memory Boxes

A memory box can hold small items that are important to you—like letters, photos, or tokens from trips. Opening the box and reflecting on what is inside can serve as a tangible way to recall cherished moments and experiences.

In essence, reliving these moments does not always require physical objects. The feelings, stories, and connections we share with loved ones are carried with us in different ways. Whether through the senses, storytelling, or revisiting a meaningful place, there are many paths to reconnect with those cherished times.

All in all, we are available for mediation, counselling, the arts, and supports. Moreover, we wish you a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year in 2025!
